About the Program
TECH Teachings is an educational program created to teach children all about cybersecurity and the importance of being safe on the internet. This program can be implemented into the learning environment as a part of the student curriculum, or it can be an afterschool program or club.
This program was created as a Gold Award project. A Gold Award is the highest award a Girl Scout can earn. It must be a project created to help the community for generations to come. Many children are becoming introduced to technology at a young age, so it is important to inform them how to use it in safe ways. TECH Teachings does this by teaching children about the risks the internet may possess and how to overcome these challenges. Additionally with the now-widespread use of the internet for online school, staying safe and being able to identify unsafe situations is more important than ever.
This program was designed for students in second to eighth grade. It consists of 10 interactive and engaging lessons per workbook for each level to further explore cybersecurity. There are a total of three levels that can be completed in any grade level. Students will be asked to complete tasks that are related to a threat they might run into on the internet. They will learn what the threats are, how to identify them, and how to get rid of them as well as how to protect themselves in the future.

About the Creator as of December 2021...
Hi! My name is Erin Kiesewetter and I created TECH Teachings. I am currently a junior at Princeton High School and enjoy playing field hockey. I am very passionate about helping others and after taking a coding class, I instantly wanted to further look into the world of computing. Upon discovering the topic of cybersecurity, I knew I wanted to learn more. Since I was struggling to come up with a topic for my Gold Award project, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity!
